Hip Hop Mahalo

It is Wednesday  - - The last Wednesday of the month and that means - - - HUMP DAY HOP!!!!!

This month Alison has challenged us to use certain colors. And the array of colors was beautiful. I truly loved this challenge.

I am the last one on the hop - as I am on a trip and I was WORRIED I would not be able to access my page. So if you arrived from someone else on the hop - you are in the right place. If not, then start at the beginning on the Bombshell Blog and see what the other Bombshells have come up with while playing with these colors.

This is Hawaiian Girl! And she is chilling with her blue ukelele and her Coral swimsuit.

I used lots of stickles to outline the flower and the main paper (Bohemian Rhapsody FYI). The white dots I used Pearl Pens to make the pearls. And AFTER I had the entire card done I decided to redo my embellies and re-organize. And Lookie what I found but these two fancy clips that match it PERFECTLY!!!!! YAY!

OK. I hope you all had a great hop and I thank you for joining me today!

Phoenix from the Ashes

Hi guys...

In honor of my current trip to Beijing for work, I decided I wanted to color one of the Asian images. Here is Phoenix... only in reverse colors than normal. Usually they are in reds and yellows, but I wanted to make the background the yellow and the foreground the other colors.

I used copics in shades of Violet - V20, 22, 25, 28, Blue Green BG32 and 34 and Blue B41, 45. I feathered and alternated the purples and the blues on the "feathers". I then started with Yellows Y0000,000,00, 15, 19 to make the background. I decided that it didn't look right on the large piece of white paper. So I cut out the general shape but left some of the yellow around the edges, and made it loose. Then I famed it simply and easily. This is to make the Phoenix the star of the show... just as it should be.

Well I hope you all are having a great month. Hope to see you again soon!

Valentine's card for my Hubby

So, I know this is a week late, lol... but the card WAS ready on time. :-).

I don't have all that much to say about this card other than I made it for the best hubby in the world. LOVE him with OWL my heart!  The stamp is the cute Digi image from Susana Loves Stamps called Just for Love.

I used primarily Warm Greys to color this pretty bird. Then reds and greens. There is sparkle added to the hearts all throughout the image that was added using the Gelly Roll Stardust Glitter pen. You can see more detail of that here with the random squigglies in the big heart.:

I hope you all had a great Valentine's day and had someone to share it with!

Soulful Lanterns

Hey there everyone! Here to share some of the new Rubbery Goodness that was released in January from Susana Loves Stamps. I have used two stamp sets here: Soul Chimes and Eastern Lanterns.

The images were stamped on black paper with white ink and then embossed with detail white embossing powder. Once done, I pulled out my pencils (wow no copics today LOL). I started with lightly coloring the areas I wanted colored with a white pencil. Then I went over those areas with the colors I wanted. Once done, I cut out the images and then layered them behind a Die Cut. The card base is sparkly, silvery /pewtery paper. To add some extra stuff to the lanterns, I added the dots from the Soul Chimes to the lanterns with some pearlescent paint.

I hope you enjoyed a different take on coloring using pencils instead of Copics.

See you again soon!!!

It's Monday, Muse Monday...

I am a little late, but still at the party. The Muse Monday set for this month is Sugar Daddy.  Crazy little fox / wolf / dog like pimp. LOL

I think this is a funky card for a funky person - just haven't figured out who yet. As you can see, I colored him with shades of gold and purple. But it wasn't ENOUGH. So I used Champagne and Lavender stickles to up the bling ante. The black paper is glitter paper, and zebra striped bling and red bling finish the ensemble.

He is such a hound dog. :-)

Check out what all the others have done so far this month with the Muse Monday set!

week three

Hope you have a great week! See you soon!

Captain Owl-merica

I got out my handy dandy copics and intended to color this image up like a cactus... And then forgot to color it like a cactus. So I have decided that this interpretation is my Superhero owl.

HEE HEE... This is Captain Owl-Merica...hiding from his enemies  in this pot .:-)

Actually it is Planter Owl from SCACD Digital. Isn't he so neat? I used the following colors:

BG000, 01, 02, 07
R05, 08, R29, R39
G21, 24, 28 and YG23
E41, 43, 44, 47, 49.

When I finished coloring him the stickles came out. little gold dots... and then gold edging around the different mats. Add in some red bling and BOOM... he is hiding in plain sight.

Hope you all are staying warm. Talk to you all again soon.

Butterfly Sketches

Or sketch. It is time for the Bombshell sketch challenge. I really do love this sketch - I think that  Kathi truly outdid herself this time. This is one of my favorite sketches EVER.

I used Butterfly Queen for this one. Her skin is E50, 51, 53, and her outfit is a mixture of BG1x series with BG0x series. Each one alone just wasn't quite the right shade.  Once she was colored and cut out, I went all sparkle on her. I used silver stickles to add a band and to do her belt and her shoes.

The paper is a DCWV pack called Type Art. And I loved the colors and old timey paper feel to it. I thought with the Bombshells it works so well.

Red Hot Love

So, I finished early and posted late today. LOL.

See I was on a roll... made a bunch of cards. Ready for posts on certain days... And BAM. Forget about it. Literally. Seriously. FORGOT ABOUT IT.   It is the first Wednesday of the month and time to post the Ms. February Pin Up Challenge. This morning. SIGH. The card has been done since Saturday. Somehow I thought yesterday was Monday... And realized after I was at work today that it was actually not Tuesday today - but Wednesday and my post was not up. ACK...

So here is my early late project. Ms. February has challenged us to bring the heat. And here is how I decided to bring it.
I think Ms. Retro Cowgirl is SUPER hot... and who says you have to be dressed in red for Valentines day?

The greens are colored with YG21, 23, 25, 17. For the layout I used the Retro Sketches sketch for this week as a starting point and changed it a bit just to make it my own.

I hope you jump on over to the Bombshell Stamps blog and join in on this months challenge!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by for my lateness. LOL.  See you again soon.

Is she a Victorian Lady or a Steampunk SIren?

This is one of the new digital images released this month.  Victorian Steampunk is her name, and she meets the criteria for both. :-)

This image was colored with the following Copics:

  • YR000, 00 E11
  • E07, 08, 09, 18
  • E81, 84, 87, 89
  • YG91, 93, 95, 97, 99
  • YG21
  • Y11
  • Y21, 23, 26
  • N0, 2
  • R20, 22, 24

Again, I had to find paper that matched, and I came up with the paper - Lost and Found Two by My Minds Eye. I really like to use 6 x 6 design paper for cards. The thing is that the designs are small enough usually to go well with the card size. Although sometimes I will delve into my rather extensive 12 x 12 paper, the designs are usually just too big so the 6 x 6 design pads work well. I wish that everyone would make all their designs in 6 x 6. Really. It should be required!!!!!!

Once I was done coloring and cutting out the Victorian lady, I laid it out and added some embellishments, including flowers and little metal elements.  I was so happy with how she turned out. She just had so many folds in the fabric and shadows to play with.

I hope all of you check out the great new images over at the SCACD store! They are really fantastic!!!!

I am going to go and color another fun image - Just cuz I can!!!!

Choose Happy - With Butterfly Sprinkles

Hey there.... Just sitting around coloring and having some fun. I have had this image for a while, and wanted to color it, but just never got to it. When I am trying to decide what images to color, I usually just pull out a ton of stamped or printed images and start flipping through them and see what interests me that day. Finally, this one screamed out for me to color.
This image is Bonsai Tree designed by Carmen Medlin for SCACD Digital.  I went with less saturated colors for this.  The trunk is E70 base, with E71, E74 and E77 are used in the darker areas. Once done I added a bit of YG63 to it to make it a little less one dimensional in the color area.   The cherry blossoms are RV0000  base with R81 starting at the center of the blossoms and feathering out. Then I added R83 to the darker areas. The more tight the buds, the darker I tried to make them.  The leaves are YG61, 63, 67 as is the moss in the pot.   The pot is C3, 5, 7, 9.

The final touch on here was the stardust gelly roll. I added that to some of the blossoms and to the design on the pot. However, you cannot see them in any of the pictures I took. :-(  I think I need some photography lessons from my brother... or just have him come and set up a picture place for me and I just won't move anything ever again. :-)

After this, I found some paper. I loved the simplicity of the pink and silver and black paper. The sentiment is from the (shocker) "Choose Happy" set. :-) I stamped it with Versafine and clear embossed it.  The final touch is the Butterfly Chipboard.  Each "butterfly" is two pieces of chipboard. The solid one was stamped with embossing ink and then embossed with pink glitter embossing powder. The top one was rub a dub dubbed with Metallic Lustre. I glued them together and then added some crystal lacquer in the holes.

Voila - - Pink and silver sparkly butterflies.

OK... that was how I created this card. I am hoping that it stays warm here now. It was a whopping 57 degrees today and we had the windows open. :-)  After being down in the single digits, several snow days, and just dang cold wind, it was really nice to have our windows and big door open for about 30 minutes today... then we got cold and had to shut them. LOL.

Hope to see you back here again soon!!!!!!!
