Sea You Soon - Sketch

Hey there everyone! It is sketch time over at Bombshell Stamps and Kathi our fearless leader (She must be fearless to deal with us crazies) has prepared a lovely sketch here for us all to enjoy. My take on the sketch became very dark with pops of color.

I colored Mermaid Treasure up with blues and yellow greens  and then cut her out and layered her on the black paper. I love how it makes her stand out. Now the ribbon is silver - not red or pink. I promise! It is just VERY shiny. I am wearing a dark pnik shirt and apparently it reflected on the picture. SIGH. So the picture looks a little strange. The sentiment is from Homeward Bound.

I think I will do more on black with the Bombshells.

It's Icon-ic

Hey there all. Welcome to my humble abode for my take on the ICON Blog Hop. If you arrived from Jodi's Blog, then you are on the right track... If you just happened along or came directly here - then take a look here and then check out the rest of the blog hop starting from the beginning.

I really love the Steampunk look of things, so I decided to pull out my gears Spellbinders Dies and cut out a few of the gears in different colors of brown.  The Icon image I chose I think goes so well with the gears. The little bitty ships wheel from a couple of the sets (Mermaid Anchor and Ahoy Sailor) and reinds me of the gears. The spokes and all. So I stamped that wheel in the middle of the cutouts that I made of the gears. I also added some ink with sponging to give it more of an antique-y, metal-y look.

I chose the paper from a 7Gypsies set I have. The ATC is made with a clear acrylic base. I pasted all the gears and the extra doo-hickeys to the front of the plastic sheet. Then I stamped "It's Your Lucky Day" from Mermaid Treasure set in Black Versafine. Then I clear embossed it. This I stuck using ATG tape to the back of the clear plastic. I trimmed the paper around the plastic shape. Then I added a bit of extra to it with bendable wire. this I wrapped and twisted in different areas. Where it is coming up through the image... that is through a hole I punched with a metal punch.

A New Bombshell Hop

New Technique that is! That is right - Alison, the Hostess with the Mostess has challenged us to celebrate the new year, with a NEW technique. I hope you arrived from Laura's Fabulous blog. If not, head on over to the Bombshell Blog to start this New hop of right!
So we had to pick a new trick. Well... if I am anything - I am an overachiever - so I chose to try TWO NEW to me techniques. OK... two really SMALL techniques.

The new techniques?? OK... so I did say - new to ME. The first is that I antiqued the "Frame" I used a Nestie and cut it out and embossed it, then got some gold rub and buff and applied it using a q-tip (and yes - it was actually the q-tip brand) :-)

The second technique was the crackle. I have NEVER been able to get this right. So I took the mermaid from the Mermaid Treasure set and colored her upper half. Once I cut her out I glued her to the frame and I applied crackle accents.

So I ended up happier with the crackle (Surprise surprise) than the "antiquing"... Maybe I should have stuck with a single technique. ;-)

Floating a Sketch by you!

Yay verily it is that time again... time for the Sketch challenge over at Bombshell stamps. Kathi, as usual, has come up with a delightful sketch, and I am ever so thankful for it this time as it helped me get my mojo on this month.

I chose the LOVELICIOUS Mermaid Treasure stamps to make this card.  For the sentiment I masked off the Last two words and just stamped the first two... then I masked off the first two words and stamped the second two below the first. So it FITS!!!

For the mermaid, I want to tell you a little bit about how I get the colors. I REALLY enjoy combining colors on different thing. For example - The base coat of the Mermaid tail was YG11. I colored the tail COMPLETELY. Then I added deeper colors with B12 and B14. I blended back with the B12 to lighten it a bit, but I then colored over all of it again with the YG11. This gives the colors some really pretty depth and you get an overall feel that is different than either of the two color palettes alone.  YAY.

So... The remainder of her was colored with Y000, 11, 13 and YR14 for her hair. And the skin tones are E00, 11, 13. Also the Flower is R11, 14, 17.

I was so excited to find the paper... It was in a stash of old Sizzix little sizzlets paper I had that I had so completely forgotten about. I squeeeeed when I saw it, it works so well for water!!!  Ok now - go on over to the Bombshell Stamps blog and CHECK IT OUT!!! There is some seriously beautifimus schtuff going on over there.

Check out the Booty

It is Hippity Hoppity Time at the  Bombshell Stamps Blog. If you arrived from Allison's blog you are going great. If not, then head on over to the Bombshell Stamps Blog to make sure you don't miss a THING.. The theme this month is "Shiver me Timbers". Now... I could go really raunchy on that one, but I decided to keep it PG (you see bare back in this one - GASP).  When I think of Pirates, I think of Romance Novels, and the clinch poses on Johanna Lindseys Gentle Rogue. Since I don't have a Fabio Bombshell Stamp (Hmmmm that would be fun to have hint hint) I had to go in a different direction.

I do have this lovely Mermaid Treasure stamp set!!! And I thought YAY... I will do up a mermaid and show off her stuff.

I colored her up using my Copics. I used a ton of them!!!  She was primarily colored with BG10, 11, 13, 15 and YG11. For her skin E0000, 000, 00 and her hair E11, 13, 15, 17. I added some Star gelly roll in areas to give her some sparkle.

Both she and the treasure chest are cut out after they were colored. I used gold and champagne stickles for the gold.

The background is all airbrushed. YAY!!!! I had fun with that. (And it allows me to enter iCopic Challenge #36 HEE HEE). I used E30, 31, 33 for the sand, BG02, 05, 07, 09. The sky is YR00, RV00, BV00 then B21, 24, 26. The moon is white Inkprintz Ink stamped on and then embossed with white EP.

For a close up of her I have her to the right... Isn't she cute. After the airbrushing and placing her in the water, I added a couple of fish from the same stamp set. YAY.
