Love is in the air! - DTBST

It is time for another DTBST challenge.  This challenge is to make a Valentines card for someone. Hello - Lingerie Lindsay  was perfect for this, and I had not colored her yet.

R81, 83, 85, 89 are the primary colors I used for her outfit. I used one of my favorite techniques here. Which is coloring sheer items. So, I colored her skin first as if nothing was there. Once done, I layered lightly the color I wanted the sheer item to be.  Her hair is Y11, with E3x series over it.

My husband was a sweetie and cut out the black heart with the scrollwork on our Pazzles machine. :-) See he is definitely a sweetie. Once I had her on I was a little depressed... it was so blank. So I went to Hobby Lobby looking for SOMETHING. And I hit the JACKPOT - Scrolled hearts!!! YAY.

OK... so now it is your turn to show your love by creating a Valentine. Enter your Valentine into the Sassy Studio Dare to be Sassy Thursday challenge and you could win some free images! Woo to the Hoo!  And did you see those images that were just released - those were FUN FUN FUN - so if you haven't already bought them, here is your chance to maybe get your hands on those goodies!

Have a great weekend guys! See you again soon.

Going Forward - Looking Back - Hop around the New Release

It is Sassy Studio Designs January Release time and have we got some fun stuff for you! You should have arrived from Starla's blog. If not, make sure to go start at the beginning to get the full impact!!!!

For this hop we are sharing our Favorites! I used several of mine - favorite color - purple (one of them), favorite embellishment - Bling,  favorite tool - Copics.  Favorite design papers - DCWV.  And look who I colored so dark and lovely.

It's Maleficent! The blacks here are all Cs. They range from C1 to the C9. The purples are a little different. I used V12 as the base and left some showing. Then B63, 66, 79 was layered over those purples and then blended in with the B63, and then one last going over and blending the entire thing with V12. Woo Hoo... Her skin is E50, 51, 53 and her blush (which is really hard to see on this picture) is V00.

Ok... So there are several new designs and the ladies have worked up some fun fun fun inspiration with the new images!!!! So continue on the hop and have a blast!

How Charming - DTBST

Hey y'all! It is Thursday and that means another installation of the Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge over on the Sassy Studio Designs blog. This week we are challenging you to be Charming - easy as that! Ok... so maybe a little more explanation is necessary - you need to use a charm on your card. See - easy!

Medusa is VERY charming isn't she? I really had more fun then should be allowed coloring this image. I treated her snakes like very crazy hair! That made it a little easier. :-)

I used B60, 63, 66 and 79 for the bluish purple colors. The greens are YG61, 63, 67 and the golds Y32, 35, 38.

The sentiment was perfect for this challenge... and I added a snake charm and a little treasure chest charm to complete the card. the ribbon is white ribbon colored with the B63 marker to make it match!

Now - for your chance to win some beautiful images that you can have fun with - and see a bunch of lovely work - check out the Sassy Studio Designs DTBST page today and enter YOUR charming creation!

Simple Paper Rosettes - Shot through the Heart

Kathi the DT Captain with the Plan - challenged the Bombshells to pick a tutorial and Make it their own. Well I was stumped - there are so many to choose from. I did actually think that maybe - just maybe I shouldn't choose a tutorial that I actually created. :-)

I chose one by Kelli (and Meredith did one too earlier) to make some paper rosettes. Ok... so I will be honest - it is MUCH larger than I thought it would be. I was thinking embellishment on a card - not the size of a card. :-). I should think a bit more.

The hearts are from All My Heart - and I colored them all in Warm Greys - - just so you know - the colors of the two hearts are the SAME colors... it is wild to me how they look darker on one side than the other - and more brown. But they are THE SAME> Just shows you what the surrounding colors do to you!

OK... Now I encourage you to check out the Bombshell Blog and see what everyone else came up with.

Muse Monday - and I am King of the Road!

So not really, because today I won't be driving much! HAHAHAHA...

It is Muse Monday over at Bombshell Stamps. We are picking a set each month to showcase, and each and every Monday we bring you inspiration from a couple of the Bombshells on that set.

This month the Muse Monday set is King of the Road, This is a great set for cards for men, cards for boys, cards for travel, cards for girls who like cars. :-)

For this one I went very simple. I didn't use a lot of shading, I just let the image detail jump out by using C1, R27 and Y00. Once colored over, the black stood out much more. Then I went for a colorblocking technique with the red, black and yellow cardstock. With the Hot Rod, Classic sentiment - this would be great for a birthday card.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great week - and I hope you stay warm - I am going to TRY to... but a trip to Chicago in January is not my idea of warm!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road...

... Hopefully to a chance for a Guest spot on the Kraftin' Kimmie Design team.

You must use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp on your creation and you also must include some sort of metal embellishments/paper/colour on your design!

So - I did a triple play on this card - I have metal "paper", metal embellishments (the hearts), and I colored up the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz collection in well ... tin.

The background paper is a heavy foil that I embossed with the diamond plate embossing folder. The other embellishments are three different heart charms I found - - you know since the Tin Man wants a heart! The sentiment is stamped with versamark and then embossed with detail silver ep.

I colored the Tin Man in shades of Cool grey starting at C00 up through C3. Some of the shadows are C5. After I was done, I added a little E04 to give the tin a rusty look. But it looked very bland on white paper. So I thought Yellow Brick Road. I added that with Y11, Y21, Y23, Y26. Then the whole thing looked WEIRD! So I added in the poppy field using the dotting technique with G20, 21, 24 and R22, 24, 29. So then I added B21 for the sky. I like that much  better than the plain white background.

OK... now off to be crafty again. I still have a few more cards to do this weekend.  :-)

Have a great day!

Kraftin Kimmie Guest Design Contest - Simply Adorable

So I am tossing my hat into the ring. Going for the brass ring. Giving it the whole 9 yards.

You get the idea!

Kraftin' Kimmie is having a contest over at her site for a chance to be one of three Guest Designers in March. OK... So I am giving it a whirl and hoping I have what it takes. You can enter as many times as you like before tomorrow night at midnight. OK... so here is my first arrow I am flinging.

The rules are you must use a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp AND you must include some sort of metal embellishments / paper / color on your design.

For this creation I pulled out the Lovely Lulu and used a bit of metal beaded chain and a metal tag that says simply adorable for my metal.

The bathtub I wanted to look white, but white can be a bit tricky - because you still need depth. I used B60 and 63 on the edges to show where it is curving. The bear is G40, 43 and a Touch or 5 of B46. The bubbles are BG53, 57 as is the water on the floor.

Her hair is Y11, 21, 23, 26 and her skin is YR0000, 000, 00 with R20 as her blush. The bows are the G40, 43 on the inside and RV52, 55, 66. I used the BG53 with the colorless blender to add some faint edging around the tub and Lulu.

Ok... Back to crafting. I want to try at least one more card! Have a great rest of the weekend, and good luck to everyone else who is trying out!

Dare to be Sassy - and Rhinestoney and Ribbony and Rosey

It is Thursday, which means it is time for another chapter of Dare to be Sassy Thursday at the Sassy Studio Designs Blog.Today's challenge is to encorporate three R's - Rhinestones, Ribbons and Roses!!!!!

I used Katniss - Girl of Fire Sassy. Her dress and hair are in all shades of grey  - C0 through C9 and 110. I colored light to dark, and went back and blended. The 110 is added to the deep shadows. Blacks are really hard. They tend to get shiny and streaky and gummy if you use too much ink - so you have to be very careful to make sure that you don't over saturate, or that you give it some time before layering. Also - for this one on her dress, I didn't blend as much as I usually do because of this - I left it a little streaky hoping to show more folds in the fabric.  I added a bit of red just to give it a bit of contrast.

I hope you enjoyed it. The Sassy gals have some really cute inspiration for you. You can check it all out at the blog. If you enter you have a chance to win some wonderful images from Sassy Studio Designs. Keep in mind - there are some new images coming out in a bit - - WOO HOO.

She's a Heartbreaker!

It is Pin-Up time over at Bombshell Stamps. Ms. January is Jenn and she has decided to have a Heartbreaker theme for January. She wants us to think gorgeous girls, love, literal broken hearts, maybe anti-Valentine's Day?  ;)

So here is my take on it!

So I thought of several different song lyrics - I went to the basic  HeartBreaker lyrics... several other songs... but for some reason I thought Broken Wings. So that is what I targeted. Take these Broken Wings and let me fly again.  Taking the heart flying - OK... that I can do with Sacred Heart. They have the gorgeous wings, and the beautiful heart on fire.

I used R02, 05, 08, and a little bit of R17 to color the heart. The flames went from Y02 to YR02 to R05/08 and blended together. The greens are YG01, 3, 5, 7, 9. The dots around the heart are a mix of other colors in the 02-05 range. To give it a little more interest. The wings were stamped on the black with Versamark and then red tinsel EP was added to give it sparkle. I then found these hearts and added in them to the mix.

Now, you should check out what the other Bombshells have for you today and join in!

Please link up your Heartbreaker creation on the blog for a chance to win some Bombshell Goodies!

In honor of Gandolf

The storm that is. It is Thursday - which means it is Sassy Studio Designs Dare to be Sassy Thursday challenge time. I am a little bit late today - sorry about that. (I'll tell you about that later this week).

So, the challenge this week is to show off snow or snowflakes. I really love the new Christmas Image, and think it is perfect for anytime.

I used very light blues to color her, and then added grey on her skirt and scarf. Once done, I added some starburst gel pen to those same areas and on the hat. to make it all sparkly. Her boots I added crystal effects to the blue for a vinyl look and then white enamel elements to create the fur.

I wanted to keep it simple and in the same color scheme, so the white polka-dotted paper gives it a snowy feel.

The Sassy Ladies have some Freaking Amazing samples today to show off. I encourage you to head on over there and check out their inspiration.  And please join in on the challenge. You don't have to use Sassy images to play, but you can still win some!

A Rose by any other name....

Or in any other color! It is Sketch time again at Bombshell stamps, and Captain Kathi has done it again! She has come up with a wonderful sketch for us to play with.

I used Rose's Portrait, and colored her in a different color scheme than usual. I wanted to go lighter than the typical bright colors. More of a pale, soft scheme. I started with the papers - which I think are Websters pages. And then chose the colors.
I started coloring with the rose. It is E40, 41, 93 and 95. with the YG93, 91, 95 and 97 for the leaves.  I then colored the skin. I went with R0000, 00, E40 and 41 - working for more of an antique-y porcelain doll look. The earring, eyes and her and scarf are BG70, 72, 75 and 78. Her hair is Warm Greys.

The flowers look a little strange, but in person are really really close to the actual cardstock.  I am so bummed that the picture doesn't show it! SIGH.

Head on over to the Bombshell stamp blog  and check out what some of the other ladies have created for you as inspiration. Then you should join in and try for a chance to win some free stamps!!! Seriously. Fun, easy, and free. Whoa!

Ok... check back tomorrow and I will have another Sassy creation for you to keep you warm - or cold as the case may be.

Out with the Old - In with the New - DTBST

Hey there guys! It is Thursday which means another challenge for Sassy Studio Designs. We are daring you to be Sassy with us and and use something old and new for your creation.

I am cold here (and it isn't even THAT cold). But I am trying to think warm thoughts. So I created this card using old paper, and an old Tag...with some new butterflies and a little bit of new ribbon I just got.

I used YR00, E11, E13 for this Sarong Sassy's suntanned skin. The Blues are B41 and 45, and the peach is R00 streaked with colorless blender to get te clear looks. Her hair is Y00, 11, 13, 15 for her hair.   As always I cut her out, and then lined the cutout with black.

Now, I hope that you all join us over at Sassy Studio Designs DTBST this week. If you join you are entered into a chance to win some new digital images. YAY. Check out what the rest of teh Sassy ladies have done for inspiration this week, and then get crafty with us!

Hump Day Hop on another day... :D

Hello All - Welcome to our slightly postponed Hump Day Hop for Bombshell stamps. Everyone was so crazy from the Holdiays, so we postponed this months hop a small bit. You should have arrived from Monika's super blog. If not, make sure to check out the entire blog hop starting here!

Alison, our hip-hoppin' hop-stress has challenged us to make a gift for the hop - NO CARDS ALLOWED.

Based on my ornament making experience with Staz-On being better than usual, I decided that I needed to try it again, so I used Staz-on and stamped the same floral image from Bombshell Patterns stamps twice - on the outside of the glass (one on each piece).

Once it dried, I turned it over and added glue to the areas where the leaves are. For that I added light blue glitter. Then I added glue where the flower was (on BOTH pieces of glass), and added the gold microfine glitter. I let this dry overnight. Once dry, I arranged the two pieces so they were in the same orientation and stuck them back to back... So this is a miniature sun catcher that I will give my mom to have in their motor home. :D

Now - Off you go to Kathi's blog! She always has spectacular things. If you get lost along the way, the entire blog list is below!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
