Hexagon Soul

So I decided to make this card - specifically for the Designed to Color challenge which is to use Hexagons. So I started with the image (Sassy Studio Designs Theodora from their recent release). Then I went for the paper. I decided I loved the colors in this paper, and then OMG - there are Hexagons in the paper. It was divine intervention!

The paper is My Mind's Eye - Follow your heart - be Amazing paper pad.

I really wanted to color Theodora in different colors than from the movie. So I tried as closely as possible to match the colors in the paper pad.

YR000,00, E11 - Skin
Hair, Boots, Shirt, Band - E42, 43, 44, 47, 49
Pants - N0,2,4
Jacket, Hat and part of boot (eyes too) - BG70, 72, 75, 79

I added a couple of other hexagons, just to make it stand out!

OK... Have a great week! Hope to see you all back here soon.

Favorite KK stamp

Hey there guys! Sitting here thinking that spring break was a big ole bust on the spring side. However, it gave me time last night to color up this image. I decided to try to play along with the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge this week and chose Artemis as my favorite image. I am not sure why, but I love this image. Maybe because I love myths??

Anyway - here she is:

Now, in the books I read Artemis is not such a great character. So I decided this is her daughter Katra - who supposedly looks like her but is nice. And wears stuff other than white!

Once I had her colored, I cut her out in a rectangle, but there was too much white space on the left. So I went just a LITTLE out of the box. I like how it turned out.  The paper is Oxford by Basic Grey.

Ok... so here I am cutting it barely under the wire - 1 hour and a few minutes left to enter into the KK challenge. WHEW.

Colors used:
Skin - YR0000, YR000, E11
Hair - E11, E13, E15, E17, E18, Y11
Bow - Y11, Y23, Y26, Y28
Dress and headdress - B91, B93, B95, B97, B99
Quiver and Arrow feathers - YG23, YG 25, G16
Shadow under feet - C00, C1

Stencil Me In - Bombshell Hop

Alison has asked that we pull out our stencils for this months Hump Day Hop. I don't use stencils a lot AND I recently took a distress ink class.. so combination time.  You should have arrived from Jodi's spectacular lair. If you have not seen hers yet - then check out the links below to enjoy the entire thing.

The image is Cherry Bomb from Bombshell of course. I printed out the sentiment and the inside says "With a Cherry on Top!"

I colored her with R32, 35, 37 and 39 for her outfit and the cherry with a little YG23, 25 and G17 for the leaves. Her skin is YR000, 00, E11. Her hair is E23, 25, 27, 29.

I used a swirly template from The Crafters Workshop for the background paper.  I pressed the Versamark into the swirly template onto the paper and once completed I clear embossed it. I then distress inked it with grass green.

The flowers I arranged on a separate piece of paper and then cut it out. That way I could put the glue down and get everything the way I wanted it, and then once dry it was easy to place all at once. I think I will use this trick more often.

Now - this hop is very cool. So hip hop along like a happy Easter Bunny... and stop along the way at all the pretty places that have been stenciled for your enjoyment. Your next stop is Susie! If you get lost - the entire list is HERE!

Double the sponsorships

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring a WHOLE bunch of challenge blogs this week. And I have a couple of projects I whipped up (HA... I never do any card quickly)... for these challenges.

The first one is for the Left of Center Creative Challenge to punch it out. OK... so the LOC challenges are really pretty cool. I wish I had known about them earlier, because they are mythical, grunge, steampunky challenges. COOLIO.

My card for this challenge was to use the Vampire Slayer Sassy image to come up with this fairly dark card:

The moon and the flowers are all punched out.  I used the 2x series to color her for the most part (except for the C0x series for the black). For the shadows I BV11 instead of the typical darker shades of E on her skin. I also used Y11 and 21 for the reflective parts (her hair, and her shirt and pants).

The second challenge that I made a project for this week was ATC's with Attitude. This was an ATC's only blog... which meant I made my image a bit smaller. :-)

So... it looks pretty large here doesn't it?  HA. It is 2.5" by 3.5".  It was really fun to do this and Really tiny to color. The colors are all over the place. The dress was R81, 83, 85. The hat was V20, 22, 25. Her hair was E23, 7, 9 with y21. The feathers E40, 41, 42 and the ribbons were YG 6x, 3, 7. Like I said - All over the map.

So I recommend trying either of these out for a chance to not only strut your stuff and stretch your wings, but also for a chance to win free digi stamps! WOO to the HOO.

Ok... now I am heading off to be all crafty myself. Have a great week!

Penny's Paper Crafty Sponsorship

If you are looking for the Bombshell Post for today, please scroll down to the next post.

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring the lovely Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge today. This challenge is Gingham or Checks. I didn't have much but I just kept picturing pink gingham for some reason.

I colored Holiday Ariel Honey - Although I apparently colored her up more like Aurora.  OK... I am guilty - I forgot to write the colors I used down on this one. ACK... I hate it when I do that!!!! Please forgive me! I know I used RVs, YGs and Ys. And they were in the lower tiers - either 1x series or 2x series. I can't remember.  ACK!!!

Ok.. .I hope all of you check out what all of the other Sassy ladies have created and try your hand at this fun challenge!!!

Have a great week!

Ms. March's Pin Up Challenge - Use 3 stamps

It is time for the Bombshell Pin Up challenge and this month our lovely Ms. March has challenged us to use three stamps on one project. I cheated - I used 4... SHHHHH... Maybe I won't count the sentiment. Then I just used three. :-)

This was a great challenge. Splitcoaststampers on their VSN had an Inchie challenge. Well I combined both that and this one to use multiple stamps and here I am. I really enjoyed this because it was such an easy card to make. No coloring. Just a few square punches and a little cutting and BOOM there it is. The images were all stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and then clear embossed.

Now, I hope you all join us in our challenge at Bombshell stamps this month to use 3 stamps. If you join in AND use Bombshell Stamps, then you will be entered into a chance to win a gift certificate to the Bombshell store. Woo to the Hoo... free stamps.

OK... Now I am going to head on out and work on my next project.

Muse Monday - Love and Luck

It is Monday and what does that mean - well other than another work week and countdown to Friday? It means it is Muse Monday at the Bombshell Blog. Each month, we are picking out one set to feature on the blog. During that month, each Monday we focus on that specific set. This month the set is Love and Luck!

I used the Deconstructed Sketch number 92 as my inspiration and Basic Grey's Hello Luscious paper pad for the design paper and color choices.

Copic Colors: YG41, 45, G28, BG32, 34, R43, 46, 59

Once it was colored, I distressed all the edges and over the rose and sentiment banners with Wild Honey Distress ink.

So this is so NOT my normal style, but I really like how it turned out. My eldest is leaving to go back to college today, and said she really liked it, so she has a bookmark to take back for her psychology books. :-)

Thanks for joining me today. Hope to see you back again soon.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Follow the Yellow Brick Road.... If you have been following the Sassy Studio Designs yellow brick road today, you have arrived from Jodi's blog! Isn't she fantabulous?!

So I am previewing the Wicked Witch. She is so marvelously well... wicked.

The background paper is MedowLark by My Mind's Eye, and it reminded me of the intro to Oz the Great and Powerful. I colored the Wicked Witch's face with YG61, 63, 67 and the shading was BV00. Her outfit is C3 through C9. Once done I added in B79 in the darker areas, to give it some depth and a little different tones. I like the purply tint it gives. Over the top I added the black diamond stickles. The red bling and stickles is supposed to be the fireballs that she uses.

Make sure you leave a comment on each blog! This way you can be eligible to win an image! The winners will be announced on Wednesday.

OK... now you need to keep on following the yellow brick road as it takes you along to Jackie's Blog.

A little bit LATE. Sorry!

Between "Allergies" which I have now decided is in actuality a very awful cold, and work and having to head to a Color Guard competition today, I have fallen a little behind on my posting. This was SUPPOSED to go live this morning.

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge this week.  And the challenge is Anything Goes. Sassy Has some AMAZING images that work extremely well for children's cards.  I decided to use Sailor Honey for this card. It reminds me of my daughters school mascots (Admirals) - they always have an Anchor on their shirts, etc...

I colored honey with the Blue and white theme in mind. Her skin is YR000, 00 and E11. Her hair si E23, 25, 27, 29 and then Y21 layered in. Her outfit and eyes are B21, 24, 26, 29 and the anchor is C1, 3, 5.

I really loved doing this one. The Ahoy there was printed out on my laser printer, and then everything was cut out and layered. The blue ribbon is glitter ribbon that I had that just happened to match almost perfectly. WHOOP!!!!

Ok... now I am going to go and take some ... ok a LOT of the nighttime, sleepy stuffy head put you in a coma on the kitchen floor medicine. Only I am going to take it in bed so I don't have to sleep on the cold floor.

Also, Don't forget to check out the Yellow Brick Road Blog Hop and Release! It is going on today and tomorrow!

Rise and Shine - and Flip that sketch

It is sketch time again over at Bombshell Stamps. Fun Fun Fun. I have flipped the sketch that Kathi provided this month, and took some liberties with the sentiment... but I think it turned out interesting.  Using Rise and Shine as the main image, and a little side image from Homeward Bound as the "sentiment" image of the sketch.

The colors here were a little bit of a departure from typical sailor colors. I used RV9X and E7X along with B91 and 93, YR0xs and greys.

OK... Now I suggest you try your hand at our sketch challenge. If you enter with a Bombshell stamp (and there are ways to get some freebies to use - Newsletter Cough Cough - - Shhhhhh). . . you are entered into a chance to win a 20$ gift certificate to the Bombshell stamp store.

Have a great day / night / week!

Love to Create - with Lavendar and Lace

Hey there guys. It has been a crazy weekend - Can't wait til we get another one.

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring the Love to Create challenge this week and they have asked everyone to design a creation with Lavendar and Lace. I decided to take a bit of a different spin on the Queen of Hearts. I mean - why does she always have to be red and white?

This is the V2x series, her hair is YR21, and R2x colors. The greens are YG2x. I think she is so very lovely. She reminds me a bit of Lucille Ball. :-) Actually the more I look at her, the more and more she reminds me of Lucy! I LOVE LUCY!

And Once I picked her out to color, the Queen of Hearts song, started streaming through my head, but still went with this part from the Gambler. It just seemed more appropriate. Printed it out on the paper and cut it out with a Nestie. The lace here is the black crocheted lace across the bottom.

I hope you enjoy your week. I know I am already looking forward to next weekend... And not just because it is the weekend, but because the weather looks to be improving. Maybe spring will be here soon!

TTFN!

CAS - Forest Green and White

Wow - two Kraftin Kimmie stamped cards in the past couple of days. I am on a roll. Their challenge for this week is to create a Clean and Simple Card. That isn't that hard for me. LOL... So here I am being all CAS.

I finally got a chance to play with my Anne of Green Gables stamp, and well... she needed to be green. LOL. The greens are YG61, 63, 67 and G85. Her skin is YR0000, 000, 00 and R20. Her hair is Y11, E13, 15, 17, 18... as well as the bottom suitcase. The top suitcase, bag, shoes and hat are E41, 42, 43, 44, 47.

I had a TON of fun with her hair. Braidds are not that easy, but it was fun to try. I also had a lot of fun with the shading. This was a great image to practice some of that shading techniques on. The mesh flower was airbrushed with the YG67 to match the outfit.

Now - these are the challenges I will be entering her into:

Kraftin Kimmie - Clean and Simple
CMC Challenge - Anything Goes

See yall later!

Catching Butterflies

It was supposed to start warming up today. Yeah - they said it would be 50 today. Uh huh - right. 50 degrees my cold pattooty. It was High of 39. LIARS.

Well, I have decided to warm myself by coloring up a springy card for Kraftin Kimmies Spring Challenge this week.

Isn't she so cute? I have colored the lovely girl herself using YR000, 00, E11 and RV00. The colors of her outfit are B00,01, 02, G00, 02, RV00, 02, 04 and her hair is Y00, 02, 08.

Once she was colored, I cut her out using a Nestie, and then while she was still all nestly, I used Broken China distress inks to edge the outside of the Nestie. Bows added. Voila!!!!! Spring has sprung - on my computer screen.

So, now I am going to go crawl in my warm bed. Have a great weekend, and be crafty!

Tic Tac Toe - DTC #1

Hey y'all. I have another Bombshell for you today. I made this card for Designed to Color's Birthday Bash. Their first challenge was to play tic-tac-toe. The only rule was you must use a colored image and you must choose one row to follow. I chose their bottom row which was Bling, Aqua and Presents.

This lovely lady is Butterfly Queen Bombehsll. and I have colored her with YR000, 00, E11 and R20. The Aqua is BG01, 02, 05, 07, 09 and her hair is Y00, E07, 08, 09.
The presents are made with Stamps by Judith tissue box stamps that I masked off the sniff and the tissues. They are colored with BG02, 05, 07 and BV00,01, 02.
I added bling on her outfit and also around her Nestie backdrop.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

I would also like to remind you of the Bombshell Stamps Design Team Call.
It's time to select the next six Bombshell Pin-ups (Guest Design Team members)!

Each Pin-up receives a free set of stamps, a generous discount to Bombshell's store, will be featured on Bombshell Stamps' website and blog, sets our monthly challenge, and shares four (4) items (cards, scrap layouts, altered art) during her month.

If the Pin-up rocks her guest design gig, she's asked to join the Bombshell Girls (our Design Team).

Ok... now onto more crafty times this weekend!
