Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?

This is WIND, one of the new Elements stamps from SCACD.

I will admit, Wind was the hardest to color for me. I mean, water is well - usually a reflection of the sky with vegetation, Fire is fire colored, Earth is vegetation, but wind - wind is air. It is breath, is is airy, but what color is it? SHRUG?!!

What the heck does this song mean when it talks about the colors of the wind???

I decided to go with light and blueish sky-ish. The sky over the trees and behind the dreamcatcher is just a darker shade of the colors of her hair (what I have decided are the colors of the wind - except in El Paso during a sandstorm... then it is brownish painful yuckiness).

When I was finished i added some turquoise gems and then cut her out. The background behind her is just white paper that has been airbrushed with the same colors that are in her hair to make is look as if the wind is blowing. At least I think it does. ;-)

So this is Wind... my version of wind.

Have a great week!!!!

Late with my colors

Hi guys,

As usual it has been a CRAZY few weeks, and getting more insane by the moment. I haven't had a lot of time to be all crafty, but I did have to try my hand at the first Bombshell Color Challenge:

Alison has challenged us to use the following Comfort Tones color scheme and create a project.

This is my interpretation of that:

The blues are a bit bluer than the turquoise on the inspiration... but ... I think it comes close.

Now - everyone have a great rest of your weekend! I am going to be working tomorrow, but I will be thinking of you all having fun and be getting all jealous and stuff!

Spring is in the Air - ACHOO

Hey there all. Well spring is in the air - at least the pollen is coating everything here in east Tennessee. To celebrate the multitude of yellow gunk all over my car, LOL, I have finished up my Earth Card.

Earth is all about lush flowers and animals, and rainforesty stuff and green was what I chose as my predominant color. And I used SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many green copics, that my desk looked like a grass field had been mowed and the remainders were spread among it. I think I used almost every green there is, so I am not sure what each one is... with the exception of the gila monster / lizard / iguana... sorry not an animal person. That was YG21, 23, 25, 17.

I was trying to go for a theme here with the card, so I used the same basic design as I used on my Water card. I am thinking these will be a gift set for someone.

I used red gems around the image, and also on the jewels on her face. I did some really big experimenting with trying to get more highlights in the leaves. I was really happy with that aspect of it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. and stops by my little area of the blogiverse again soon.

I am entering this creation into the following challenges:

My Muse is a HEARTBREAKER

Hi Guys - It is Muse Monday at Bombshell stamps and I have a quick and easy project here.  I have made a red and black bookmark that is perfect for the Vampire books that I don't have already on my kindle.

I used two of the images from the Man's Ruin set that is the focus of the Muse Monday this month. It was easy and simple to do. The Skull is E40, 41, the Rose is E32, 35, 37, 39 and the greens are YG61, 63,67.  Once I was done, I colored the background black. Then I cut out the image mounted it on red. The Heartbreaker sentiment was stamped in Versafine and then clear embossed.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope that you all come back and see what I have for you later this week. I have a few projects to share. :-)

Happy Birthday to my MOM.... last Weds.

It was my mom's birthday on Wednesday. Since we grew up for the most part in the desert southwest of the US (hello El Paso, hello Tucson)... I thought that this was the perfect image for her card.  I am going to say it was HARD to figure our the colors, but I am really excited about how the flames came out. This is FIRE

I colored them opposite of how I usually do. I used E07 on the very edges of the flames first.  Then YR14 a little farther in, and then Y21 a little farther in and then used Y11 to blend. Once I was done I added a bit of the E81 to them to make them blend in a little better with the hair.  I tried to start her hair one color on one side as roots and mesquite wood, and work over to the flames on the other side.

Her skin is E51, 53, 55. The sky was B32, and I colored it in little circles everywhere. I think I like how it turned out kind of a bit mottled.

I am really digging these Elements stamps. They are SOOoooooooo much fun to color, and turn out so beautiful in the end.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Thanks for stopping by!!!

SCACD ELEMENTS RUBBER STAMP BLOG HOP!!!

SCACD is releasing four rubber stamps which are collectively called The Elements Collection. The inspiration for them is by all that is going on in nature at the moment. Thoughts of water, wind, fire and earth so powerful in nature captured in these women thru collaboration with SCACD Artist Carmen Medlin.

The fab SCACD Design Team along with amazing Guests Designers has created an inspiring hop showcasing the new SCACD rubber stamps. If you missed part of the hop list then check out all the details at the StoreBlog today!

You should have arrived from Susan's blog. Wasn't her project great??!!!  If you did not arrive from there, then you should head to the Store Blog (link above).

Ok... so here is my project using WATER:

This image was so much fun to color and I took my time. I decided that she needed green and blue hair, and chose the colors for that. Everything else came after that.  Once I was done, I found a piece of Blue Cardstock that matched perfectly. I was shocked. Usually I spend a TON of time finding a match. I cut out the inside and placed the image behind it. I then ringed it with the pearls and added the ribbon and more pearls on the bottom edge. There were some pearls also added into her hair.

The thing I did differently on here was to use a lot of white for highlighting. It is a bit easier to see in the below close up.

You can see a lot of white in the hair, and on the dolphin. I also added some in the eyelid makeup and cheek makeup.

Colors Used:
Skin - YR0000,000,00, E11
Hair - B12, 14, 16, 18, YG11
Bubbles - BG0000,000,01
Dolphin - B60, 63
Fish - Y11, 15, 19
Seashells - R00,12, 14

Now available in the USA are the SCACD April 7th rubber stamp release HERE. SCACD Digital images for USA and International can always be found HERE.

Home is Where the Heart Is

It has been a heck of a week. My daughter competed with her high school at the Winter Guard International Championships - which required a lot of driving over the past three days. WHEW... They did wonderful and got their best score of the season. And we saw some phenomenal guards. Just amazing.  Seriously not sure how the heck they are able to do some of the stuff that they did.

But last night driving home was NUTS... I needed armor. The wind was CRAZY, and pushed us all over the road. And when we got out for gas it was COLD. WHERE THE HECK is spring? Seriously. Where???? Which made me LONG for sunshine. And the beach and ... well not snails... but he seemed so beachy and warm. This is Home is Where the Heart Is from SCACD Digital.

I used R20, 21, 22 for the coral tones, and YR30, 31 for the yellows. The blue greens are BG70, 72. Then I decided to do the sand and sky. But getting in between was difficult, and I had printed it and cut the original image out in a Strange shape. So I fussy cut it out... which cuts some of the details off.

But... I wanted those details. So I printed it another time same size. . . and I colored the background just in a straight strokes over the sky (B0000, 000) and the sand (E30, 31, 33). I went over the image as well. Then I glued the fussy cut image (after inking it with black ink on the edges) over the second image. So it is very slightly raised.

The main image with background was cut out with a Nestie. I then went through and found some pretty DP and added it as the background and details. Added the sentiment colored in the same tones as the main image.. But it wasn't done... it needed glitter and some dark outlining around the image to make it pop. WHOOP.

Now for some relaxation - Watching movies and basketball and coloring some new images while doing it. I LOVE multi-tasking.

I am entering this into the following challenge::

Sketch Saturday

Hope to see you back again soon,
