April Showers

We are having way too much in the world of April Showers. Luckily my hubby got the water issue in the front yard taken care of before it started. WHEW.

Designed to Color had a Sunday Spotlight last week that I had never seen. It was really kind of cool... called Hidden Die Cuts. I had to try it.

I used two Flourishes stamps, and stamped the image twice. Then I attempted to color them EXACTLY the same - HA.... yeah good luck with that. I got as close as I could.

The greens are G21, 24, 28, the blues are BG53 and 57  and the Purples are V20, 22, 25. The greys are C1, C3, C5. I then selected my die.  I thought little rain drops (or paisley die cut) would be fun. I cut out 5 different areas. and then added them with foam tape squares to the image. So... uh... yeah - that was actually the hard part. Getting it exactly on was very frustrating - but I think it was because it was so small... a bigger one would be a bit easier to place.

Ok... so I am pretty happy with the end result. I may try this again. It is a little different than other things I have done before.

I am entering this into the Marker Pop Challenge - April Showers.

I hope you all are having a great weekend!

If I only had a Brain...

Sometimes you just have weeks like that. Luckily this week is ending on a great note because we are having a Blog Hop for our new Sassy Studio Designs Release!!! Woo to the HOO!!!!!

This month we added a challenge to the Blog Hop of playing Tic Tac Toe.
I went for the gold - BLACKOUT!!!!! Or should that be GoldOut?! YellowOut?

I used the lovely new Scarecrow Sassy to create this card. I Adore these new images... and I keep singing Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and If I only had a brain!

So for blackout I have

First row - Embossed brick (Hand embossed), Yellow - It is a yellow brick road... Ribbon - I have actually two different ribbons - the one with at the top and the sparkly green "grass" is also a ribbon / fiber.

Second row - Flying Monkey (the little image is one of the other new images from Sassy (Flying Monkey Sassy) that I printed at less than an inch tall, and colored it lightly, then cut it out and added it to the pendent charm (see the next row). Bling - the buttons on her outfit are crystally bling, and the grass is very blingy.  The ruby slippers or something red - well her shoes are red, as are the poppies.

Third row - Hot air Balloon - had a clear overlay with all sorts of hot air balloons - I used a few of them and cut them out. Charms (pendant with the flying monkey) and Flowers - I added Red flower soft for the Poppies near the yellow brick road.

YAY - No - - I am not an overachiever!

I colored the lovely scarecrows cloth body with E41, 42, 43. The browns in her pants and hat are E53, 55, 57, 59.  Her straw hair is a mixture of Y11, Y21, E33. The greens are YG61, 63, 67 and G85 and the reds of her shoes were created with R46, 56 and 59.

Now here comes the fun part - We have split this hop into two parts - Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday's we will have a challenge for you to enter!  And this will give you the chance to win some of these lovely images for your very own!!!!! Easy Peasy!

DTBST - Happy Mother's Day

This weeks Dare To Be Sassy Thursday is to make a card or project for Mothers Day. Well I didn't make one for my mom... because then she would see it before I gave it to her as she looks at this blog... So I let my craziness go ... well... crazy...

This is my card - the inside says Happy Mother's Day from your little Terror.

So I think that how her skin turned out is great - all pale and pasty. I used YR0000, YR000 and BV000 for the shading.  The dress is C3, 5, 7, 9.  Her hair is E74, 77, 79 and W9.

Now, I cannot look at her without having Cher songs pour through my mind. For some reason she reminds me of Cher.  Now wouldn't that be weird? Cher as Wednesday Addams? WOW.

OK... now you should play along with us this week for a chance to win some wonderful images. You could even pick Wednesday as one if you wanted. LOL.

And now for something Completely Different! Ok... same company, but new news! See we are having new release blog hops this weekend. Saturday and Sunday.  WHOOP!!!!!

We also have some little teasers up on the Sassy Studio Designs Blog. You should go check it out. Guess who they are... and you could be entered for a chance to win one of the new images!

OK. That is all for today. Thank You for joining me. Hope you have a great weekend.

Have a Drink - While You Hop

Hey there guys. It is time for the Bombshell Hump Day Hop! Allison - our hostess with the most-est (HAHAHAHA... it autocorrected to Moistest) set our theme as a color theme. I tried to match the colors... and when you print it out and hold it against the colors it is pretty darn close. Far away - it looks not so much - more vague.

The colors are:

Cherry Palette.jpg

And I matched as close as I can - in order they were:
E40 - BG11 - BG09 - RV99 - R89 - YG03

And here is what I ended up with:

The stamp set is Calaveras Fiesta.. and has all these little drinkies that are just looking so nummy. I love me some fruity drinks... So I would go for the margarita type ones first.

Ok... so here is what I LOVE about this card. It is my first attempt at brushing, spritzing then smushing.  I took the YG03, the BG09 and the RV99... I have a cutting mat that is VERY slick on the reverse side, and I airbrushed the three colors in several different splotches on the back. I oversprayed some colors, and then left some more separate. Once done - I spritzed it with a fine mist spray bottle filled with standard household alcohol (No - not the drinking kind LOL).

As it was beading up and wet, I took a piece of white paper and layed it down and just smushed it in. No dragging it or moving it... just sticking it down. And Voila - this cool background. I LOVE IT! I will be doing this again and again - playing with the colors.

OK... now on to your next stop which is Glittery Katie - and she always has absolutely fab stuff!!!!

If you get lost along the way - here is the full list. I hope you have some fun!!!!

Butterfly Dreams

Hey there all. I made a really simple card yesterday for a tutorial I posted on Bombshell Blog today on adding a touch of dimension to your card.

Sometimes you just want a little more than a flat image. There are a lot of ways to achieve this, but this one is simple and doesn't require more than dimensional glue (E6000  and Quick Grip are my go to-s) and your image.   Basically I stamped the Butterfly image (Butterfly Dreams) and colored it twice.  One image I left on the page, and the other I cut out after I colored it.  I tried to color these two images very similarly. I would say Identical, but that is impossible!

The butterflies were colored with B12, 14, 16, 18, V12, 15, 17, Y11, 17. I did not do a ton of shading on here. I did a little, but I wanted the focus to be more on the dimensional effects.

Alright, hope all of you have a crafty weekend!

A Diamond in the Folds

Hey there friendly people! It is that time of the week again - it is time for Dare to be Sassy Thursday!!!  This week we are challenging you to use fancy folds! That's right - bring out your fanciest folds and share them with us!
Now, I am willing to try a bunch, so I did my little google search and found this really cool fold on a few sites out there... It is called the Diamond fold Upright card. (If you want to do this google it and you can find several different tutorials on it. The reason I am not sending you to a single site is that I ended up using two or three different instructions to get what I wanted - Sorry).
This is so very cool.... the only drawback is that I had to paperclip it to keep it together. Luckily you can paper clip the interior folds, and it was not visible.

For my image selection I chose the beautiful Effie Trinket image, and colored her in shades of Pink and Grey. I even added a touch of pin k to her hair. I tried to mimic her makeup from the movie... So she has a LOT of pink eyeliner. Her outfit is RV63, 66, 69, and the greys are C1, 3, 5, 7. Her hair is Y00, Y32, and a touch of RV00. Once I had her completed, I cut her out and added her to the front of the card. I added a bit of bling... but then I thought she needed a bit more - so I added the frame around her.

Now - go ahead and check out what the rest of the Sassy team has in the way of inspiration over at Sassy Studio Designs Blogspot. Then what are you waiting for? TRY YOUR HAND at it!!!! You never know - the next winner could be you!

Harley's Harley

It is Monday - and it is my turn to host Bombshell's MUSE MONDAY!  And this month the stamp set we are all showcasing it Harley Bikes.

Well - I LOVE Harley... Harley Quinn. She is awesome. So what have I made?

I made Harley's Harley!!!!! I colored the Harley bike in shades of red, white and black. I used very few colors - R22, 24, 29 and 39. And then used 110 for the black areas. There is a little C1 throughout, but to darken it I just picked up a bit of 110 in areas.
I added the black diamonds just to make it unique. Then I made the diamond pattern with just simple red and black cardstock. But it needed something. And Harley is a classy broad - I mean - she is a Psychiatrist right!!! So she needed some pearls added to it.

OK... so I hope you all are a little inspired by my take on Harley Bikes (or Harley's Bike).

I am entering this into the following:

CMC Copic Challenge - Reds
Use it Tuesday's - Sticky Situation Challenge (the pearls)

Introducing the Goddess Iris

OK... so it is really Bonnie of the Nile (Sassy Cleopatra) from Sassy Studio Designs... but this weeks DTBST (Dare to be Sassy Thursday) is to create a project with three or more colors of the rainbow. Surprise, Surprise - I had to be an overachiever.

When flipping through my images - I kept coming back to this one. So then I did some research on Rainbows, and found out that the Goddess of the Rainbow is actually Iris.  In Greek Mythology, Iris is not only the goddess of the rainbow, but also the messenger to the gods. WOW. So that is perfect for a card that is to deliver a message!!!

For her skin I went with E51, 53, 55, and of course her hair is C5, 7, 9, 110.  It was her dress that took some work! I used the 0x family of colors for all of the different colors as you work. I tried to stick with the correct order of the rainbow as well. :-)  No - I am not anal retentive at all!

I feathered the purple and blues together, and the yellows / oranges and reds.

I have used two different Design Papers. The Starry one is DCWV Stardust matstack. The one behind is Basic Grey.  Mounted all on navy and then added bling.

OK... so that is my card! You should head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog and check out the current challenge. There are some seriously SHINY projects this week. Makes me want to sing - Somewhere Over the Rainbow of course!

Happy Birthday to my Mom

So I am a couple of days late posting it, but I actually DID finish it and give it on time!

So I used the Flourishes release week challenge as inspiration and actually tried to mimic the layout a bit in their inspiration photo in addition to the colors. :-)

What is also kind of fun is that the gifts I gave her were hot pink and lime green! And I did NOT plan that!!! WHOOP - Happy accident!

OK... the colors used were YG2x, RV2x and RV000 along with E2x and G2x. I also used a bit of gold stickles to add to the center of the flowers.

Have a great day and see you all again soon!

Imagination can be Sketchy

Hey there guys! Bombshell Sketch time. Like I mentioned earlier in the week - Bombshell is moving their challenges up in the month a bit to give everyone a bit more time to work on them. So now the challenges are open almost for the full month.  Today is the Sketch Challenge - and Kathi always delivers great sketches!

I took this sketch and pretty much did NOTHING with it. HAHAHA... I didn't flip it or flop it. I just used it. So here is my take on it!
The paper is DCWV Tradewinds Mat Stack. And I used three different DPs in here. I added on the heart from All My Heart set. I used the E07, 08, 09, 18 colors to color the heart itself and the gold is Y11, 23, 26. Once done I added in the glitter using a quick glue pen and then adding very light champagne glitter. The sentiment is a metal tag from I think Tim Holtz.

Now - If you haven't already, please check out the BOmbshell Blog today, and see the challenge and while you are at it - go ahead and try it out!!!! You could be entered into a chance to win a gift certificate to the store if you enter with a Bombshell stamp on your card!

Ok... Now I am off to the Carolina Indoor Performance Association Winter Guard contest (I have been told NOT to use the term flag twirler - apparently that is verboten).  Have a great weekend Y'all!!!

Ms. April's Bombshell Challenge

Hey there guys! Bombshell is changing things up a bit and having their Challenges earlier in the month to give you all a whole month (give or take a couple of days) to do the challenges.   The first challenge is the Pin up challenge. Since it is a new term, we have a new series of lovely Pin-ups each month. This months Ms. April is  Teresa Abajo. She has an incredible talent, and we are so glad she is here to share it with all of us.

Ms. April has challenged us to make a Monochromatic Tag. Whew.... One color? YIKES that is always tough for me. I like to use LOTS of colors!

I went with Butterfly Dreams and Teal colors. Now - I do have some white, but I figure that is just very, very light teal right? ;-)

The colors are mainly BG05, 07, 09. The background is Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. There are some areas that look like silver, but those are actually starburst clear sparkly pen.... I think it is so cool that it looks silver. :-)

Please hop on over to the Bombshell Blog and try your hand at the Challenge this month. If you enter with a Bombshell stamp you are entered into a chance to win a gift certificate to the Bombshell Store! YAY.

Hope to see you around here again soon!
