Shalom

This was a card I did for my first assignment for Outlines Rubber Stamps.  I used one of their BEAUTIFUL split layering collages. This particular one was the Judaic Split Layering Collage. I also used the Shalom stamp.

I cut out three of the images from the Split Layering Collage. I colored the images with my Copic Markers. I used the B21, 23, 24, G21, 24, 28, R22, 24, 27, 29 and Y21, YR21.  I colored the edges of the blue so that they were darker, and blended inward. I also used the same blue and coloring technique on the center of the Shalom stamp. I think the flames on the top right image are my favorite. They are blended from Y21, to YR21 to R22 on the very top. I used some tip to tip technique to get the gentle fading.

After coloring, I layered on red and then blue. This was all posted on Red and then again on the blue card-stock. The Shalom stamp I stamped twice. The first on white, and the second on the blue. I used Gold stickles every other star. I cut out the outside of the image for the stars. and the inside image from the white stamp with the colored image. I layered this on the red. Because there was already so much blue, I decided that there was no need for this image to be layered again on blue.

Even though I am not of the Jewish faith, I think that these stamps are beautiful and versatile and can be used for many different occasions.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! And to everyone - Shalom.

Twirling Star

I haven't had much time to be crafty this week. We have been redoing two of the rooms in our house, so all my time has been spent there... but I wanted to upload something I did a while ago. I love the crisp blue and white, and how it just pops.

For this card I used Outlines Rubber Stamps Star of David Squares Large and small and Mazel Tov stamp.

I started with a white card base. I stamped the large square twice on white with Versamark and heat embossed it with blue Zing.  I cut out the inner star from both, being careful to not clip the outer edge of the square. I also cut out the outer box design. I stamped the small square twice on the blue cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed it with white Zing. I cut out the outer box with design on this.

I took the two white stars and glued them together with a string running through the center of it. I placed the blue boxes around the star, and did the same thing - - glued them back to back with the string running through two opposing corners.

I layered the blue on the white, and then more white on blue cardstock. I cut out a square on the diagonal slightly bigger than the inside of the outer box I had stamped and cut earlier. I layered the white boxes on two blue squares that had been cut out slightly bigger than the white boxes as well. I ran the string through the  center of these two squares and placed one on the front of the card and the other on the inside of the card.
Once I had glued all of this down and had my spinning star, I cut out the stamped, embossed Mazel Tov, and put them right below the stars.  To finish it out I cut out the corners with some Cuttlebug fancy corners. To add to it, I layered a blue cardstock on the inside of the card as well.

I hope all of that made some sense. Next time I do something like that I will try to take pictures along the way.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you come back soon.

First Assignment - Judaic Stamps

My first assignment on the Outlines Design Team was to work with these Judaic stamps which are absolutely gorgeous. I am not Jewish so I learned a lot working with these which was very fun and interesting. I love love love these stamp images.

The first card here contains three images from the Split Layering Collage Judaic. I stamped the entire image with Memento Black on Hammermill Color Copy Cover. I cut out the three images I wanted and then colored them with my Copic Markers. The last stamp is the Shalom stamp, which I stamped and cut out as well.  I tried to stay consistent with the color family, so I used the 2X families (e.g., B21, 24, G21, 24, etc...) across all the pictures. Once I had them all colored (including the Shalom), I mounted them on Red and then cut around the image again to make it a thin mat. I then mounted them on Blue. The paper is Bazzill. The Blue is actually a dotted Blue paper (see below), but I used the back of it for this. I mounted everything on the white, red and blue cardstock and then on the card base. I used some gold bling on it to add some sparkle, and a little gold Stickles to add sparkle to the stars on the Shalom.

This second card, is probably my favorite of the cards that I have made so far. It uses the Sparkle Happy Hanukkah stamp. Again, I stamped it with Memento on Hammermill. I used the B21, 24, 26 family of Copics for the blue areas, and the Y21, 23, 26 for the gold coloring. Although they are not clearly visible here, there is a fine edge of B0000 inside the doves.  I used the same gold bling on the areas here that I used on the card above. This is the front of the Blue Bazzill dot paper. I think it is adorable and gives it a happy feeling which matches the gold balls of the bling. I added a Gold ribbon that I think I got on a gift this year and made a double bow.
Thank you for looking. I am hoping to post some more tomorrow as I experiment a bit more with my husbands camera (mine bit the dust and we are now looking for a new one) and the photo tent.  But I think I am going to post something Shamrocky and St. Patrick's Dayish, or maybe Easterish. That is coming up soon!!!
