Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way!!!

No... this post has NOTHING to do with Easter... just hopping. Bombshell Style. That is right all you peeps... it is that time again - the last Wednesday of the month and time for a Bombshell Blog Hop. You should have arrived from XXXXXXX's blog. If not head on over to the beginning.

Alison - our hostess with the mostest challenged us to use the following color palette.


I took one look and had a bit of a panic attack. They are beautiful colors, but wow - who the heck thought to put those together.  So after calming down I looked at what I had printed and tried to pick one where I could use all those colors. Rose called out to me and said ME ME ME... so Rose it was.

The leaves on her shawl and the sponged background match the middle green in the swatch. The roses the red... the leaves in her hair, and the leaves with the paper rose match the olive green, and the two shades of teal in her shawl and earrings the outermost colors on the swatch. They REALLY REALLY do!  The background paper is a little more green than it appears here, much closer to the right hand color, and the burgundy a little more red than purple.

To get her on the sponged background I cut her out (minus the wisps of hair and eyelashes. Then I stamped her again on another piece of white paper. On that paper I cut it out with a Nestie, then sponged with Bamboo when it was still in the Nestie. Then I glued her down on top of it, letting the wisps and eyelashes show as the only things from underneath.

The rose is the same burgundy paper, cut out with a rolled die. I rolled it up and spritzed it with gold glimmer mist.

I will be honest - This is one of my favorite colored up cards. Not sure why, but you could have knocked me over with a feather based on my initial trepidation regarding the color palette!

I am late and out of (football) season

So, the Bombshell Pin-Up Challenge this month was to FEEL up your Bombshells. My first attempt was - needless to say - DISASTROUS - Seriously BAD. Since I procrastinated a wee bit... THEN messed it up... well I missed the post day on the Bombshell Stamps Blog. But I had to do the challenge - I just had to - it was a moral imperative. So I looked at my stamps again, and picked a different image and started over.

I chose the very sexy Retro Cowgirl. Now I have always pictured her as a kind of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. So this time I just went with it. The outfits not quite the same, but dang close in my own mind... and in my husbands too... I showed her to him and asked what she was and he said she was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. This worked well for the feel me up challenge too... and for making it so I HAD to go shopping. Contrary to popular belief in my house, I do NOT own every crafty thing there is, and I did not have any white fringe. GASP.

So I got my White Fringe and away she goes.  I colored her up in Copics and where he little thin straps are for her top, I used those as the cutoff for the blue sleeves.

I also drew on a little fringe under her top to match the fringe from her bottoms. :-)

I really worked on the shadows on her, and tried to have a little shadow on her sleeve where he face is, and on her back leg where the other one is shading it. I can say shadows are where I need to work on. I can get shading well sometimes, but the shadows are a little harder for me to picture - so I started with little ones in this. Looking at it, I could have done some on her boots. Oh well...too late now.

I am EXHAUSTED.... but I had to try out this Flourishes Release Week noon time challenge. It was front and back. You had to use the same image as background and as the main image. So I chose one of the banners, and made a patterned paper out of it by stamping it in a row then alternating it facing the other way. I did this in light purple ink. When I was done, I stamped it with versafine on another. I mounted it all up and BLECK. So I just started experimenting. I airbrushed a rainbow, and then added the sentiment and added little blingy to the flowers on the main image.

So... not my favorite card. But, given the crazy week... it will have to do. :-)  The fact that I got one done at all... well it is almost a miracle.Actually the airbrushing I am happy with with the exception of the bottom purple... hmmmm... I may have to give this a whirl some other time.

Basic Butterfly

So for this months Bombshell Sketch Kathi gave us a great sketch. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to use the cutting out a border method on the edge and leave some of the underside  of the card showing. 

I kept envisioning the butterfly flying up toward the flowers. or down toward them, and now looking at it, compared to the sketch I realize that the upper flowers should be on the right and the lower on the left. DANGIT!!!!! UGH. I hate it when I do that. SIGH.  I blame the freaking time change. REALLY... It is DST's fault. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!



I cut out the white shape and stamped a butterfly from Butterfly Queen on the middle in black. I stamped the same butterfly in white on black, embossed with white EP, and cut it out I bent up the wings slightly and then layered it on with a rolled up zots line under each wing to make it pop up.

I added black Enamel Accents on the white flowers and around the edge of the scalloped oval.

I have been FLOURISHING

Hey all... I have been coloring up a bunch of Flourishes stamps. Maybe because it is nearing spring and I wanted the florally stuff... maybe because I want to win some rubber stuff. Who knows. Whatever the reason, I have a few cards to share today.

The first card I have is my entry into this weeks Timeless Tuesday challenge. It was an inspiration challenge, and I found it a bit hard because really there was much more orange in the inspiration piece, adn quite honestly, being the Aggie that I am, orange is REALLY hard for me. I mean, the only orange paper I have is if it comes in a pack and I want the OTHER colors. But the image had some really bright yellow, black accents and a white doily so I went from there. The image was colored with copics - Y0000,00,04,08,G02,05,07,09,YG41, 45, YG01, YR02. 07, 09, E31, 33, 35. And the edge airbrushed with B0000 while still in the Nestie.

The second card was made for the Release Week Challenge over at Flourishes. This was another color challenge based on Pinterest inspiration. The colors were the teal and purple I used here. In the inspiration photo there was a touch of yellow, so I made sure I included it. I used Copics (well duh) - BG70, 72, 75, 78, Y32, 35, 38, V20, 22, 25, 28.  I added in the woodgrain with the different shades of BG. I wanted it to look a little worn.

The third card - I made just to make it. I know I used V12, 15, 17 and G12, 14, 16, 18, YG13... other than that I am not really sure. My daughter gave this to a friend of hers for her birthday.

The CPS Cardsketch is BALANCED

Hey all. Bombshell stamps has the WONDERFUL privelage of sponsoring the CPS Cardsketch challenge this week. YAY!!!! A chance for y'all to win RUBBER... and BOMBSHELL RUBBER even! WHOOP!

Ok, now that I have that out of my system. The sketch this week (#256):

 
Now, I can't just leave well enough alone, so I had to flip the sketch... AH... that made me feel so much better. Because as my mother will tell you I LOVE for things to be symmetrical, and while I am ok with things being heavier on bottom or top, I get kind of TWITCHY when they aren't balanced side to side. HAHAHA. My own little CDO (Obessive Compulsive Disorder in its proper Alphabetical order).

I chose to use Lotus Garden to create this card. The paper is Basic Grey and worked out SO very well with it. And yes, as usual I chose the paper AFTER I colored my images. LOL.

The fish are colored with Y1x and 2x and YR1x markers. The water is colored with B1x Copics, and was done using the airbrush. Once I was done with the airbrushing I used modpodge dimensional lacquer on it to give the water shininess.

Country Roads - Take me Home

Hello all. It has been a while sicne I have participated in a Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge. I have so many stamps, and I love them. This weeks challenge is Country Comfort. Create anything inspired by country living…. a farm-theme, gardening, country patterns (calico, gingham, plaid), quilts, wildflowers… whatever you interpret as country comfort!

I have had the Strawberries set for a long time and colored up some of it, but not the main image. When I think of this image, I think of my Granny's Strawberry Preservers in the old plastic butter containers. YUM YUM. Have no clue how to make them... probably wouldn't have the patience either.

The Copic Colors I used are R21, 22, 24, 27, 37 and YG00 for the strawberries themselves. The flowers are YG0000, 00, 01 for the centers and the petals are a touch of B0000. The background was B000 and B0000. The leaves G20, 21, 24, 28.  Once I was done I used a white Reminisce pen to very lightly touch the seeds.
